Long Island's Wedding Photographers

Eric & Danielle

The phone rang and it was Danielle letting me know that she and Erik had just gotten engaged. I’ve known Danielle for a bunch years and it was great to catch up with her for a little while. For about half of the 4 years they’ve been together, she and Erik have been doing the long distance thing. Living in two places can be difficult, but as she says, it was God’s peace that kept them striving for each other. She asked if I was free any day that week to take a few photos of the two of them since they would have to return to their separate homes soon. It’s funny getting to photograph people you care about. There is this awesome ability to capture their smiles and know that they are true.

Keith and I are trying something new by asking our couples to tell us a little about themselves. Here’s what Danielle had to say about the journey they’ve taken to get where they are now.

Where did you meet?
We met at Houghton College, upstate NY. Erik played on the mens soccer team and I played on the women’s team. We got introduced to each other during preseason training.

When did you know you wanted to spend the rest of your life with each other?

Well that is a tough question because there is not just ONE moment when I just knew, rather it was more of a “4 year” growing experience with the two of us (which to me was too 3 years too long ;) .

On a serious note over the past four years I have heard several “older” people calling their spouse their “better half.” The closer Erik and I have become the more I believe this is true. He makes me a better person and his strengths compliment my weaknesses perfectly and vice versa. I am amazed everyday that God could bring someone so perfect for me into my life! I really think God granted us both peace over the years showing us that we belonged with each other, otherwise I don’t think we would have survived the past 2 1/2 years long distance.

The Chads

So when “The Chad” asked me to photograph his family I was super happy. We met them at a park close to their house. I believe it was Lakeland County Park in Islandia. They are a great bunch, super down to earth, and a lot of fun. The whole family was super photogenic.  It was great having Ashley there as my assistant. She really works so well with kids. We tried to get her to sing some Gymboree songs, but we had no luck. Check out the photos below and let me know what you think.

Will The Real Keith Wick Please Stand Up

Keith and I don’t get to shoot each other that often so when we have some free time we like to test out new lighting techniques. On the photos below we used a Alien Bee B800 and a Foldable softbox in our studio.  Alien Bees are amazing they are priced right and really are work horses. For some reason I am having trouble syncing my Canon 5D with my mac so we spent some time trying to get that to work. On a side note I never really belived all the hype about the high ISO on the new Canons till I bought the 5D and boy was I wrong. I can shoot at 1600 iso and still get  a great shot. WOW !!!!!! . Hope things are well
